The All Nations Health Partners (ANHP) Supportive Housing Working Group is a collaborative initiative under the Ontario Health Team model, uniting health, social, and community service organizations across the Kenora region.
Its mission is to address the pressing needs of individuals facing barriers to stable housing, by:
The group plays a pivotal role in planning and implementing change initiatives that bridge gaps in supportive housing programs, reduce duplication, and promote reconciliation and partnership across sectors.
Recent efforts have focused on developing a comprehensive inventory of supportive housing units, analyzing service offerings, ownership structures, and waitlist data, and integrating findings from a region-wide housing needs assessment survey.
Further, the WG works towards improved awareness and access to supportive housing resources and align with other initiatives or tables within the ANHP OHT region, in order to foster a strong sense of community belonging. It does this through the following identified roles and goals:
The ANHP housing supports framework is an informal roadmap to help people in the Kenora District who are struggling with housing instability. It recognizes that housing challenges are often connected with other issues like mental health, addiction, trauma, and experiences with foster care or the justice system.
At the heart of the framework is a coordinated entry point that makes it easier for individuals and families to get the right support, without having to navigate a complicated system on their own. From there, people can be connected to a wide range of services—healthcare, employment, education, financial help, and community programs—that work together to build stability.
The housing pathway includes options for every stage: from prevention and emergency shelters to transitional and community housing, and finally to permanent and supportive homes. The goal is simple: to ensure everyone has a safe, stable place to live, and the supports they need to thrive.
